The River Rats by Andy Griffee

In March 2022 Andy came to the lodge to talk about his books and membership of the CWA.

I was very impressed by the way Andy put over to us his books. So I bought all 3 - one of which he duly signed to me.

The stories revolve round Canals and Rivers around Bath & Stratford Upon Avon.

His main character Jack owns a little dog Eddie and potential girlfriend Nina.He lives on a Narrowboat which he named Jumping Jack Flash.

Andy gives interest to the other boat owners who live within the area and have stories of their own.

In the background a mysterious man dressed in dark clothes is murdering individuals and as you read further you find out he is being paid by someone else in the background.

His recent kill a businessman ended up in the river.

Police are called and all the river people are questioned.

I enjoyed the story so much I didn’t want to put it down and found one evening I was still reading at midnight.

To me Andy’s books are a story within a story.

I would recommend The River Rats to everyone.

A copy is in our lodge library if anyone is interested to read it.

Review of Elizabeth Ducie’s book Counterfeit

By member Kath Daly

A very compelling read....a mission to stop counterfeiting drugs in Africa... sounds horribly real...and very believable.i believe that we all know the true nature of at least some of what has been happening in the world.... didn't spot the plot twist at the end...

We have a signed copy in our library should anyone wish to borrow for the princely sum of 0.50pow
